dance floorShare & Care Charity Night

We are pleased to inform you that the Dinner Dance held on 11th September at Masti Restaurant in Wembley, was a huge success. We have managed to raise just under £6000, which will be used directly to sponsor 10 of the children included in the sponsorship programme. AjithThanks to all our event organisers, especially Terry for his invaluable assistance in co-ordination, arranging and selecting the venue.

The evening kicked off with a welcome speech by Ajith Inguruwatte and followed by a presentation by Neeth Abeygunawardana that explained in brief what our aims and objectives are.

The venue itself was ideal and we’d like to take this Neethopportunity to thank Indi who kindly provided music, cabaret and security, the restaurant chefs who provided an excellent three course meal, and the wonderful serving staff, who were friendly, efficient and unobtrusive. While eating we were serenaded by the Panjabi dholmelodic vocals of Miss Lorraine Molins who delighted us with a wonderful set of contemporary jazz.

The music later that night was provided by DJ(Sagor) with special guests, Punjabi Dhol who gave an impressive display of Punjabi music with, of course, the compulsory, rousing Baila, that had most people Lorraineheading for the dance floor.

A very generous Mr Sanjay Naidu acquired both the Sri-Lankan cricket bat signed by the team and also the signed England Squad football shirt, donated by the FA, that were auctioned on the night.

Everyone on the night was delighted to be presented with a surprise cabaret of salsa dancing by Nathasha and her dancing partner. Upesh Thakrar cabaretwho also paid for the make up and printing of our tickets and to whom we owe a great debt of thanks.

Finally we would like to express our appreciation to everyone who helped with the souvenir (Sujeewa Wckramarachchi, Prashan Mendis, Fassal Mohideen and the businessSagara presenting the bat community), be that article contribution, artwork, and the publishers (Image line ltd) in Sri-Lanka who worked to a very strict deadline.

We hope that all of you who attended agree with us that the night was enjoyable, informative and fun. The main aim for the evening was to highlight our charity, raise money and raise community awareness to what we do and what we need. The evening was a success and we merely hope that next year we may be able to build on this and do even better.
